5 REASONS WHY I READ YOUR BLOG

Not long ago I wrote a blog post on how not to break the bank when blogging (here) and you guys seemed to love it so I decided to write another blogging post giving you five reasons why I love your blog and why I come back.

1. Layout

The layout of your blog is clean, easy to read font and everything is organised. There's nothing I hate more than not being able to read a blog post because the font is too funky or because there's links flashing every couple of seconds.

I like to feel comfortable when reading your blog and having a simple design will help.

2. Photographs

This might be a little bit shallow, but I will come back if I like the photos in your blog post. I'm extremely visual so if there isn't any photos with the blog post I might not even read it regardless whether your writing skills are amazing or not.

I feel a lot more attracted to blogs with pretty photos.

3. Content

Of course the content is the most important thing of all but for me to read your blog post you need to catch my eye first with the two previous points. Once you've done that I will read your blog post. If you sound friendly and honest I will come back. I also love blogs that have a bit of a comedy twist on their posts.

Be yourself and be honest and I will save your blog in my bookmarks.

4. Comments

If I love the post I will definitely comment. I aim to comment on at least five blogs a day (more on my day off) so there's nothing more frustrating than not being able to find the comment button.

Make  sure it's visible enough for me to click and comment.

5. Mobile Friendly

Most of the time I check out blogs on my way to work. I sit on the bus and I read post after post. I will love it if your blog is mobile friendly because I will not read that blog if I have to keep scrolling to the side or making things bigger or smaller.

So those are some of the reasons why I will (or not) come back to your blog. What makes you come back to a blog? What do you like the most about a blog and what do you hate when visiting a blog?

  1. I'm not overly concerned with photos; however, big chunks of text really put me off. I also love a good layout which is easy to navigate. Before I follow a blog I will always check out their about page and it's so frustrating if you can't find one and like you said, if you can't find a way to comment.

  2. I've never really thought about mobile ease actually. I usually only read blogs when I'm on my computer but save interesting ones on twitter to read later.

I agree about layout and clear pictures though. I understand if your camera isn't crazy expensive but if you're talking about an eyeshadow and I can't even see the real shade we've got a problem. Same goes for text, some blogs have fancy font which pains my eyes so I can't read it.

Also, if I love your blog but can't find a subscribe button or like you on twitter or bloglovin', I probably won't see your blog again or for a long time until I randomly come across it.

  3. I normally am not reading stuff on mobile so I never paid attention to the mobile layout. I'm all about simple and easy to use layouts and strong content.

    Great post! :)

  4. I don't really think about the mobile layout. I always read blogs on my computer so I never pay attention to it! I also won't go back to blogs that don't have bloglovin', I won't remember them if a can't subscribe.

  5. I agree with all of these. I always look and layout and photos first but if the photos are good and the content isn't i won't go back again x

  7. I really agree with the point about photos. I sometimes feel bad that it is such a big yes or no factor to me when I'm looking through blogs, but when photos are good, they make it soo much better! Visually appealing blogs make me want to sit there and read through for ages!

  10. I agree with the photos luckily I recently got a better camera so photos on my blog will be a lot better as I learn more and more about my camera. I also love good content and good topics.

  12. I agree with all of these! Something I think is often overlooked is a search bar. If I enjoy reading your content I'll probably want to search for some other related posts. Not having one is doing your blog no favors!

I also only use Bloglovin' to follow blogs as opposed to GFC, so it's great when there's a widget in the sidebar I can easily click to follow. x

  13. I agree with all of these. I also love a blog that is mobile friendly. The majority of the time I read/comment on blogs is done via my mobile phone and it's great when a blog is easy to navigate via your phone :)

  15. Like most of the other commenters, I agree with all of these. To add on to the clean layout part - I get easily frustrated when there are tons and tons of ads. Some blogs place them throughout the post themselves, on the top and bottom, and on a scrolling sidebar. The flashing icons and popups are an instant turn-off. And pictures are probably my number one thing, too!

  17. Great post!! It's so useful hearing tips from other bloggers! I agree with all these points- I also like to it if a blog has a good about me page because I like to know the blogger behind the blog. So glad I found your blog on Twitter- such a good read and looking forward to catching up on your previous posts!
